Nicole Michels

Nicole knew she wanted to be a “creative” at age 5 when she first saw adman Darrin Stephens on reruns of Bewitched. When young, she drew Snoopy for hours on end, and years later, she graduated from Tyler School of Art with a degree in Graphic Design.  

  

In her work, Nicole uses a hodge-podge of printmaking, line drawing, and collage mixed with a healthy amount of blots, blobs, and smudges.  

 

The Giant Orange What-the-What?!, to be published by Clarion Books in 2026, is her debut picture book as an author/illustrator. She is also the illustrator of Giraffe and Jackal Are Friends (Again!) from Sounds True.  

 

She lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with her family.
